October 16, 2011Ever since we started using chatter at m5.net, I’ve been searching for the killer app. I discovered it – persistence. If you keep working on it, people will get used to using Chatter and it will take on a momentum all its own.
That said, I am zeroing in on knowledge management as THE application that will really drive adoption of Chatter which will really improve adoption of Salesforce which will actually produce the business impact we are looking for in terms of better sales and service.
Anyhoo, here are some good add-ons. I am going to try the RSS feed and invitations.

October 16, 2011To be fair and balanced, there are some things Salesforce does that I don’t like so much. Re-reading the release notes social contacts and dashboard filters will be released “very soon.” it’s like running downstairs Christmas morning, tearing open your present and finding a note inside the box that says, “This is just a note to let you know that your present will be coming very soon.”
My advice is that you don’t try this with your spouse’s birthday or your anniversary.

This is a great blog from Sinclair Schuller at SaaSBlogs - he basically says that too many SaaS vendors cop-out because their product is too complex to build self-service tools. The customers would never understand (they say).
Regardless of what one thinks, more and more people expect SaaS companies to have access to self-service tools. At my day job – M5 Networks – we are currently working on a major development effort to deliver a smart phone system in 15 minutes.
Its quite the challenge to simplify something that is so complex, but we expect that the rewards will be great in customer satisifaction and efficiency.
